Getting into the Christmas spirit?
This little crochet project is perfect for an afternoon in front of the fire, and looks cute hanging on the tree! For a quick, cheap and fun way of creating a completely unique mug, look no further!
This is a great way of adding a bit of colour to an otherwise boring piece of ceramic. It's a little messy, but the good, adult type! For those perfectionists out there, it's a bit frustrating - you will NEVER get two pieces exactly the same...but that's the fun and excitement in it! Why not create a set of mugs as a gift for that friend who loves a cuppa, or that relative who loves all things quirky? You need very few materials for this make. Everything you need can be found in any lady's house, and can be done in the adverts between TV programs - a super quick and easy craft that anyone can do (well, maybe not the kids if you don't want a beautiful new coloured floor!) Another quirky craft, making use of paper.
This is a very quick and easy piece to create, and could be done with children. Why not make lots of different coloured and patterned boxes and use them as decoration, or maybe it could be a replacement for a birthday card? This sweet little vintage-style jar is perfect for just about anything... decoration on a shelf, a vase for a flower, cute storage for small items or even as a sweetie jar (as the lid still screws on!)
Ever forget to lift an envelope with your card, or want a cool way to send a gift card?
Or maybe you just appreciate stationary and love to send letters in a creative way. Whatever the case, this cute envelope is a great way to make whatever you're sending more personal and unique. It's a quick make - under 10 minutes, and is so easy you could even do it with kids. With Christmas creeping up, I figured it would be a good idea to share another gift box that I've come across over the years. This wee beauty is great for smaller items - make up, trinkets, jewellery... it could maybe even be a creative way to surprise your special someone with a ring!
Or maybe you're getting married. Favour boxes anyone? This make is inexpensive, takes very little time, and most people will have all the equipment needed at home, so just about anyone can make it. If you have some nice card (or thick paper), a pencil and ruler, hole punch, pair of scissors and some offcuts of ribbon, you're on your way to making this cute little box. Money as a present... it's great, but it could probably be a bit more exciting, right?!
I came across this piece of origami a few years back and thought it was brilliant. Then I figured, since there's no adhesive involved...wouldn't it be a great addition to a handmade card?! If you're into cool little things like I am, give it a go and pass it forward. If you can't quite get the hang of it, but would like it made into a personalised card, drop me a line :) Anyone who knows me will know that I love recycling anything I can find and making it into something new. But you don't need to know me to understand what it feels like to have that 'where's the wrapping paper?!' moment when you're just about to head out for celebrations. We've all been there.
I once received a gift wrapped in pages from a National Geographic magazine, and I just thought it was amazing! Not only was it recycling (woohoo!), but I got to look at some amazing photos in the unwrapping process. It was, by far, the most exciting way I've ever received a present. Then I came across this wee idea, and thought it was so useful that I had to share it. Rather than rushing out to buy some paper, why not make your own gift bag out of things you likely already have at home? Consider it pre-loved - you loved reading the newspaper, playing the music or looking through the magazine, now you're passing it on for someone else to love too. I also love the fact that every bag you make will be different - you'll never find another the same! This really is such an easy make. All you need is a little bit of time (the half an hour before you go out is even more than enough!), some form of paper, a ruler and some glue. Simple. |
